Willie Jeffries, a longtime veteran of the Louisville music scene, developed the appreciation for music very early in life; he picked up his first guitar at 12 years old and became a lead singer and guitarist in his first band at the age of 16. Willie wrote his first original song in 1984 and recorded it with his band that year. Since then Willie has been performing and recording regularly in the Louisville region and across the country including extensive east coast touring in the early 1990’s in support of original releases from the band he was in at the time.
Willie is an accomplished songwriter and multi-instrumentalist but considers his voice his first instrument. Willie’s appreciation for music and drive for musical perfection are the inspirations behind Grab the Ring, which was engineered by Willie and recorded in his home studio. Grab the Ring represents a culmination of Willie’s life experiences that that took him from coast to coast….from coal mines to Hollywood.
Willie’s current band has been with him since the inception of this project and includes other veterans of the Louisville music scene such as lead guitarist John Anderson; who after playing every state this side of the Mississippi ended up in “The Ville” to continue a prolific music career in the Louisville area music scene. In addition to playing guitar, John is an accomplished engineer and producer; these talents were also utilized in the mixing and mastering phases for Grab the Ring.

Drummer Troy Torstrick has been active in the Louisville music scene for better than two decades and has played in bands for such Louisville notables as Brigid Kaelin, Bryan Hurst and Dan Gediman among others. Troy was the drummer for Louisville funk legend Kush Griffith’s last show in Louisville with Maceo Parker and Melvin Parker just weeks before Kush shuffled off the mortal coil.
Bassist James Hall rounds out the band with infectious energy, talent and enthusiasm.
